A Rare and Highly Collectible Maxfield Parrish Print

This is a reproduction of "The Dream Garden," an extraordinary collaboration between Maxfield Parrish and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Originally commissioned as an oil painting of Parrish's garden at his home, The Oaks, this masterwork was transformed by Tiffany into a stunning favrile art-glass mosaic comprising more than one million pieces of glass.

Historical Significance

  • Published as a special pullout in a 1915 edition of The Ladies' Home Journal
  • The original mosaic is permanently installed in the lobby of The Curtis Building in Philadelphia
  • Features Mount Ascutney in the background, a beloved subject in Parrish's work
  • The center crease from the original fold testifies to the piece's authenticity

Condition & Character

This print is in good overall condition with honest wear that speaks to its age and authenticity. Some fading and toning is evident, and there is a water stain in the upper left-hand corner that is mostly covered by the distressed white frame. The colors remain fantastic, and the imagery is still captivating.

Framed Dimensions

  • Framed: 22.5" x 10.5"
  • Print is only slightly smaller than frame
  • Housed in a distressed white frame that complements the vintage aesthetic

Collectibility

You don't see many of these available for sale. Despite its flaws, this piece remains highly collectible and would make a wonderful addition to any Parrish collection. Own a piece of early 20th-century publishing and art history.
